Without a doubt, it's one hell of a hard rock album with plenty of emotion and a razor. Shinedown will be out on the road this spring and summer, playing a handful of radio shows and outdoor festivals including Rock On The Range before setting out on their own headlining tour. Sessions were prolific, with Smith writing over 60 songs during the period, though the fact that he now lacked a guitarist and bassist was a constant concern. The piano ballad is slow and never breaks pace, setting a thoughtful mood that is strangely as uplifting as it is haunting. The rough demos were sent from the record label to music producer , who, upon hearing them, told Smith he wanted to produce the album. What a Shame is a nice late-album find, as Smith's songwriting invokes a strong sense of meaning into the whole experience. Perri toured only briefly with the band in 2008, before leaving to pursue a solo career, a move Smith was fine with, as he felt the band operated better as a quartet, leaving Meyers as the primary guitarist.
